I really liked this series a lot when it first appeared in the 90's but now I see why. I also use to like the original Nova comic series from the 70's (yes I'm that old) and the New Warriors (for the first 50 issues) seemed to be an extension of that series. I really have to give credit to writer Fabian Nicieza for making this seamless transition of story lines even though 15 years has separated the books.

The only thing I was never crazy was Nova's age in the New Warriors. After 15 years between the two books, he was only in his early 20's hanging around teens & still living at home with mom & dad. But once you get over this it's still a good read.

My recommendation to anyone that wants to read this storyline is start with the old Nova series and then roll into the New Warriors.

But the point of inspiration was Malcolm’s fear that we won’t be able to move beyond our dependence on petroleum. The important difference here from what we've seen in Mad Max and Water World, is that our group is not a gang. They are a clan, a "family". And that comes through even in this brief peak into the larger story. The World of Dog Eaters is a fully realized one. Malcolm Wong has obviously fleshed out the society, it's structure, it's rules. The characters have their own lingo, that is both alien and familiar. Wong writes a well paced and organic tale. Guillermo Angel's artwork brings that story to life. For a guy named Guillermo, he certainly has his Manga style down pat! It's gorgeous! Makes me think wistfully of the VIZ titles I used to read in the 90's. Characters already that have immortal or prolonged life spans should stick around and meanwhile the older characters that were killed off can always be revisited through graphic novels and alternate time lines. The options become incredible with this kind of approach. Besides fresh new characters and story lines, even older story lines (once thought closed) can be revisited. Wow! this could really open up some cool ideas.

How long can DC not have their most profitable character dead? That's why we have those wonderful DC universe scenarios and can dismiss some great story lines. Remember how they quickly placed Frank Miller's Dark Knight returns into another alternate universe storyline.

Personally, I like it. It's time to kill the old heroes and make way for new ones. It's getting hard to explain how a comic series can be around for 30 to 60 years but the character(s) only age 10 to 15 years at best.

Well, anyone that draws their own comic series are more than welcome display (or flaunt) their stuff here, or even share their character universe info. Heck even if you create it on tissue paper in the bathroom, it's still good in my book and this is the place to show it off.

Just make sure it's not on used toilet paper :)

I'm back. Looks like everyone was busy and we even have a new member (welcome tehraptor!).

Trip was boring and I had no internet access (arrgh!) so I'm really happy to be back.

That's where I was planning on going but I couldn't get figure out if it should be simply flat or categorized into universes (i.e. Marvel Universe). But Marvel & DC have criss crossed so many times and then both Marvel & DC have all of these alternate universe story lines that I kinda got frustrated and shelved it for later.

I think your right that keeping things as flat as possible is the right solution and probably the simplest for novice folks to add content.

Love it or hate it…it's a hot topic and Spidey is being talked up in all kinds of circles.

Well this is the end of Comic Page Updates Part I. I've been goin balls to the wall for 5 weeks now (without missing a day) so I'm taking a break before tackling another box.

I did open box 3 and it looks like it goes from Justice League to Silver Surfer. I'll cotinue updating everyone on my progress under a new thread labeled "Part II" but I'm taking a rest and I'll catch up with everyone in a week.

In a few words WTF! I realize the writers are always trying to ratchet up the story line but this is pure commercialism that can't be forgiven. This topic has appeared not just in comic forums but on hollywood blogs, magazines like PEOPLE, newspapers, etc… The owners of Marvel got exactly what they wanted, national media attention but in my opinion it may have been at the cost of the heroes soul (no pun intended).

M.J. has always been a part of the spider storylines. To casually treat the MJ character as they have is an insult to every Spiderman writer that has come before. I could live with storylines of divorce, cheating, etc… but to eliminate all memory of the relationship? That's like saying Uncle Ben & Aunt May never existed and are not really important to the storyline!

O.K. I've vented, still not to thrilled with Marvel though. So what's your opinion on the subject?

Currently I'm working the F's in my collection but Guardians is up next so I get to revisit the whole Guardian series. (Sweet)!

The more I revisit my old hobby the more I see the relationship with Heroes TV story lines and characters.

I also remember a story where they had to fight a kid who was being worshipped as a god. He could absorb powers by looking at them sort of like a Monica Dawson/Peter Petrelli.
